Biggest IPO Ever
The highly anticipated SpaceX initial public offering hit the market on Friday, June 12, and with it came the creation of the world’s first trillionaire. SpaceX opened at $150 a share, but climbed up to almost $177 before ending the day at $161. The company was valued at $2.1 trillion, making Elon Musk a trillionaire with his combined stakes in Tesla and SpaceX (CNBC). But will he be able to keep his crown? Maybe not. As of Thursday, June 25, Musk had already lost his trillionaire status. SpaceX stock has fallen significantly since the IPO. However, Musk remains the wealthiest person in the world (BBC).
SpaceX isn’t the only huge IPO on the docket; OpenAI and Anthropic, both well-known AI companies, are also expected to IPO relatively soon with massive valuations.
