Fed Cuts Rates
Federal Reserve Approves Quarter Point Rate Cut
On September 17, the Federal Reserve approved the first rate cut of 2025. Stocks initially moved higher from the news, but later reversed.
The cut comes after a jobs report that suggested a weakening labor market. Jobs growth has slowed sharply in the last few months, and the rate cut indicates that “concerns about a slowing labor market now outweigh ongoing worries about inflation.” (NBC)
It is expected that the Fed will continue to cut rates at the remaining two meetings for this year, though Fed Chair Jerome Powell has emphasized that they will continue to evaluate the situation “meeting by meeting.” (NYT)

A Note From Managing Partner Chad Smith
The FOMC’s decision to cut the Fed Funds rate by 25 bps was widely expected, as evidence has been growing that the labor market has been weakening for months now. While this cut is a shift in policy, it appears the majority of Fed governors opted for a “risk management cut” rather than a more aggressive move, waiting for further data to confirm if inflationary trends are in fact subsiding. Overall, we expect the direction in short-term rates to continue on a modest path lower, and view this policy shift as favorable for the stock and bond markets.

Around The Office

Buglefest
At the end of September, Reveille’s Peachtree City office hosted Buglefest, an Oktoberfest-themed celebration at Line Creek Brewing Company. We had a great time chatting with clients, meeting new friends, eating delicious barbeque and pizza, and of course enjoying the locally crafted drinks from Line Creek. We even tried our hand at axe throwing! Thank you to everyone who came to Buglefest, and thank you to Line Creek for hosting us once again!

Local Artist Appreciation With Marion Cultural Alliance
Reveille’s Ocala office is proud to sponsor the Marion Cultural Alliance, which helps to support and highlight the work of local artists. This quarter’s featured artist is Stacie Rae Pedrick, and we’re excited to display her incredible work in our Ocala office space! We love being part of a community that celebrates art and culture in such a meaningful way. Stacie’s work is available for purchase at our Ocala office until January 2026.
